Bullying, harassment and victimisation

We believe that harassment, bullying and victimisation is never okay. If you think you have been subject to this, but aren't sure, it might be useful to read this information.

Safety
  • Are you in immediate danger? If you are in immediate danger or seriously injured, you can contact the emergency services on 999 (or 112 from a mobile phone) or if you are on campus, ring university Security Team 24/7 on the emergency number 0115 951 8888).
  • Find a safe space.  If an incident has just happened try and find somewhere you feel safe.
Talk
  • Speak to someone you trust. Talking things through with someone can sometimes help. This could be a friend, family member or someone at the university.
  • Togetherall. It is a safe space online to get things off your chest and  have conversations.
  • Get support.  There are many different services here at the university and externally that you might want to speak to and access support.
 Report
  • Report and Support. Students and staff can report an incident using the University’s Report and Support system. You can choose to do this anonymously or you can disclose with contact details. If you choose to disclose with contact details we will be able to talk through the options and support available to you.
  • University Procedure. If you choose to make a formal complaint to the University about a student or member of staff there are procedures which set out the steps you'll need to follow.
Get support

We are here to support you, regardless of whether you wish to report or not.  Please look at the information on support which will explain the different help available to you.

Look after yourself
  •  HealthyU is here to help you look after yourself as a student here at the university
  • If you are a member of staff, the Staff Wellbeing page has lots of information on how to look after your mental health and wellbeing.
  •  Togetherall is for staff and students and provides a safe space for members to engage anonymously with a wider network of people across the world who understand what it's like to struggle with mental health.
If you believe another staff member or student is experiencing bullying, harassment or victimisation you can encourage them to report this via Report & Support.
